Painterly Pastels
Instructor: Kullaf
Tuesdays, 7 pm – 9:30 pm - 7 weeks beginning 7/8/08

Students will create pastel still lifes or landscapes with an emphasis on staying loose and expressive while further refining their artistic style and skills. Demonstrations will be given in each class to illustrate specific techniques, as well as to further the understanding of basic but important concepts such as value, color theory, and composition. Individual and class critiques will be conducted. Students may work from a still life provided by the instructor or from their own reference materials (photos, sketches or imagination). All levels and styles welcome.

Painting – Oil or Acrylic
Instructor: Kullaf
Thursdays, 7 pm – 9:30 pm - 7 weeks beginning 7/10/08

Students will explore and experiment with oil and acrylic painting in order to learn more about the advantages each medium offers in a variety of settings and subject matter. Demonstrations will be given in each class, topics covered relative to each medium will include versatility, techniques (for example: alla prima vs. layering), drying times, and the look and feel of the final product. Color theory, composition and values/tone will be addressed in depth in the demonstrations, as will the importance of sketching and creating studies in the approach to creating a finished painting. Students may work from a still life provided by the instructor or from their own reference materials (photos, sketches or imagination). All levels and styles welcome.

Somerset Art Association - Bedminster, NJ

A Contemporary Approach to Oil Painting
Instructor: Kullaf
Mondays, 10 am – 12:30 pm - 5 weeks beginning 6/2/08

Students will use traditional oil painting methods
and time-tested techniques while exploring
contemporary offbeat compositions, subject matter and ideas. Students may work from the still life set-up provided by the instructor, or from their own photos or objects brought to the class.
Washes, glazes, alla prima and dry brush will
be covered, as well as techniques for realistically depicting textures found
in the modern environment such as plastic,
glass, water, fabric and others. Advanced beginner to intermediate.

Oil Painting
Instructor: Kullaf
Mondays, 6:30 pm – 9 pm - 5 weeks beginning 5/29/08

Students may work either from a still life or from their own reference material as they learn the technique of painting Alla Prima, wet-into-wet, finishing the painting in one sitting. If you prefer to work in layers with glazes, that will be taught also. This class will give you the opportunity to try both methods of applying oil to canvas. Advanced beginner to intermediate.

Private Study en Plein Air - Hunterdon, Somerset and Morris Counties

Individual & Group Study
All Mediums Welcome

If you or your organization (or simply a group of artists who enjoy working together) are interested in arranging a private, 4-hour session en plein air, please contact me. There are many locations in Somerset, Hunterdon and Morris counties highly suitable for plein air painting. I offer both group and individual classes that can be scheduled according to your needs and my availability. All levels and mediums are welcome, I will demo in charcoal, oil, acrylic or pastel based on your request. Pricing is based on the number of participants, however I must limit class size to 6 in order to be able to provide sufficient attention to all students.
